Fish of Buxton Heath
Buxton Heath is not really a 'fish place', but from time to time, some small fish are found in the stream that flows eastwards into Hevingham Lakes. Whether they originate from the Lakes has often been the subject of discussion. But, whether they have or not, these Three-spined Stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus) have added to the diversity of the site. The identity of the species was confirmed on 20th January 1996 when BHWG member Dave Bevan netted a specimen.
